Hinda Winawer, MSW, LCSW, Executive Director
Ms. Winawer, co-founder of the Center, has taught family therapy since 1977. A member of the faculty of the Ackerman Institute for the Family, NYC, she was a founding member of the Institute's Alcohol, Drugs and the Family Project, featured in the HBO film "Drinking Apart". Adjunct Faculty for Rutgers University Graduate School of Social Work from 1978 to 1988, Ms. Winawer's international experience includes summer training faculty from 1977 to 1982 at the Family Therapy Institute of Heidelberg University as well as training seminars, workshops and presentations in Europe, Latin America and China. Hinda Winawer has been a psychotherapist, trainer, supervisor, and organizational and clinical consultant in psychiatric hospitals, health and mental health clinics, human service and substance abuse settings. A family therapist for more than 25 years, she is a Certified Social Worker in New York State, a New Jersey licensed Marriage and Family therapist and a New Jersey Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Ms. Winawer has published numerous articles and chapters related to couples and family therapy. A member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT), the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), the Association for Women in Psychology (AWP), Hinda Winawer is a charter member, former Program Chair and Family Policy Chair of the American Family Therapy Academy (AFTA) for which she recently served on the Board of Directors.
Norbert A. Wetzel, Th.D., Director of Training
Dr. Wetzel, a New Jersey licensed psychologist (License # SI 02637) and marriage and family therapist, is co-founder of the Center. He was visiting professor at the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology, Rutgers University, from 1980-1991, specializing in couples and family therapy. Dr. Wetzel was previously faculty at the Family Institute of the University of Heidelberg Medical School. Among other books and numerous articles, he has co-authored The First Interview with the Family (Stierlin, et. al). Dr. Wetzel is currently involved as consultant (with Hinda Winawer) in guiding the NJ Family Intervention and Empowerment Program for inner-city youth at risk. He frequently lectures and conducts seminars for psychologists, psychiatrists and social workers in the United States and Europe as well as training and organizational consultation in the public and private sectors. Dr. Wetzel is an approved supervisor of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT), a charter member of the American Family Therapy Academy (AFTA), and a member of the New Jersey Psychological Association (NJPA).
Robert Lynn, Ed.D., Director of Addictions Programs
Dr. Lynn is a lecturer, researcher, and clinician in the field of addictions. During the past 30 years he has held leading positions in many settings including all levels of drug treatment, Employee Assistance Programs, State Government, and as a professor in several university settings. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Employee Assistance Professional and Certified Addictions Counselor. He is also a recognized expert in Family Therapy. Dr. Lynn completed his doctoral studies at Rutgers University School of Education. His major research focused on issues related to success in treatment. In addition Dr. Lynn has authored many articles and presents workshops in the US and abroad. Dr. Lynn is currently Professor of Clinical Counseling at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Lecturer at Rutgers' School of Alcohol Studies and Clinical Supervisor in the Center's Family Intervention and Empowerment Program.
Glenda Mendelsohn, MSW, LCSW., Faculty
Ms. Mendelsohn is a clinical social worker licensed in New Jersey and in Pennsylvania. She has over 20 years experience in the practice of social work and over 12 years experience in couples and family therapy. Ms. Mendelsohn received her MSW from Wurzweiler School of Social Work in New York City and received four years of post-graduate training in couples and family therapy from the Ackerman Institute for the Family, NYC. She has been a member of the staff at Lenox Hill Hospital and Beth Israel Medical Center in New York. Ms. Mendelsohn has consulted to local schools and has presented to diverse audiences on family dynamics and how family strengths and resources are highlighted in her work with couples and families. Currently, Ms. Mendelsohn practices in Princeton and in Langhorne, PA. She is a member of the Faculty of the Center and teaches in the Family Addictions Program.
